Wear Castings — Cone Crushers

Cone Crusher Concave: The Fixed Liner That Shapes Your Product

The concave is the fixed wear liner seated in the bowl of a cone crusher — the stationary surface against which the mantle crushes. We supply manganese concaves, including Mn18 grades, for our own crushers and as compatible replacements identified by model and part number.

The concave's role in the chamber

If the mantle is the hammer, the concave is the anvil — and the shape of the product. The gap between concave and mantle at each point in the chamber sets how many crushing events a particle experiences and at what sizes it can pass. A worn concave quietly rewrites that geometry: the chamber opens, top size creeps up, flakiness changes, and the closed side setting stops meaning what the control room thinks it means. Concave condition is therefore a product-quality issue before it is a maintenance issue.

Grades and profiles

Our concaves are manganese steel castings, with Mn18 material available for the abrasive duties where standard manganese gives short life — the catalogue lists Mn18 concaves as a standard line. Profiles cover the chamber range from coarse secondary to extra-fine short-head configurations, and the correct concave is always a pairing decision: it must match the mantle profile in the same chamber. When ordering a concave alone, tell us the mantle it will run against and its remaining condition; where the pairing is wrong, we will say so and quote the matched set as the honest recommendation.

Failure modes we can help you avoid

Concaves fail by wear-through, by cracking from tramp iron events, and by loosening when seating surfaces or backing are neglected. The first is planned maintenance; the second and third are where experience pays. A concave that cracked early usually points to feed or tramp problems upstream, or to a grade too brittle for the impact level — information our team uses to adjust grade recommendation on the replacement. The bowl and seating surfaces belong to the bowl liner assembly in many designs; if the seat is damaged, the enquiry should cover the bowl side too, not only the liner.

Ordering

Identify your concave by crusher model, chamber and original part number — or send dimensioned photographs of the worn casting. Every concave is identified against its model, chamber and part number before dispatch. Minimum order is 1 piece, confirmed with your quotation, and sets ordered with a mantle are specified as a fitted pair. Lead time is confirmed with the quotation (common profiles typically within 15 workdays in peak season, around one month off-season), with shipment on FOB, EXW, CIF or FCA terms and payment by T/T or L/C. Certificates available upon request.

Scope of this page: the concave as a wear liner — grades, profiles and failure modes. The same liner in its bowl assembly (seating, backing and bowl-side checks) is covered on the bowl liner page.

Concave change-out: the record that matters

A concave change rewards sequence — and the part of the sequence that belongs to this page is the record, not the seat work. Before the bowl is disturbed, record the closed side setting and the product gradation the plant has been making: that is the baseline the new liner must beat, and the evidence that separates a liner problem from a chamber problem. The seat inspection, backing removal and fitting sequence that follow are bowl-assembly work, covered on the bowl liner page. Finally, run the new set in on a measured first shift — setting checked, product sampled — so the plant's records start the set's life with data. Concaves ordered from this programme are identified against model, chamber and part number before dispatch.

Send us your part number or drawing

Quotes are prepared against your model, part number or dimension drawing. Minimum order is 1 piece on most catalogue parts — like the current lead time, it is confirmed with your quotation (typically within 15 workdays in peak season and about one month in the off-season).
